What counts toward a motorcycle OTD price?

OTD price = selling price + dealer charges + accepted products + applicable tax/title/registration − documented discounts and rebates

MSRP is only a manufacturer reference. The worksheet selling price may be below, at or above MSRP. A meaningful calculation starts with that actual selling price and then accounts for every line that reaches the contract.

This tool does not infer taxes from a ZIP code because vehicle classification, residence, registration, trade credits and local rules can change the result. Enter the government's portion from a written quote or official source. If it is missing, the calculator identifies the remaining OTD amount as unallocated rather than calling it dealer profit or savings.

How to read the result

  • Known charges to review totals entered markup, freight above a manufacturer reference, setup, doc/admin and optional products. It is not a guarantee those dollars can be removed.
  • Price Score is a burden and reconciliation screen, not a market appraisal.
  • Finance Score measures cost risk from the entered APR and term. A missing APR stays unscored.
  • Payment check runs only with payment, amount financed, APR and term. A mismatch means verify the paperwork.

For the detailed logic, read the OTD Guard methodology. For definitions and negotiation questions, see motorcycle dealer fees explained.

Example OTD reconciliation

Example lineAmount
Worksheet selling price$8,500
Dealer freight$675
Setup/PDI$350
Doc fee$199
Accepted accessories$250
Tax/title/registration$625
Rebuilt OTD$10,599

If the dealer's written OTD is $11,299, the $700 difference still needs an itemized explanation. It should not automatically be called fraud, markup or recoverable savings.

Calculator FAQ

Why is the OTD higher than MSRP?

MSRP excludes some or all freight, dealer charges, products and government fees. It can also differ from the actual selling price. Reconcile each written line.

Should I include my down payment in OTD?

No. OTD is the complete purchase price before splitting payment sources. A down payment reduces the amount financed; it does not normally reduce the vehicle's total transaction cost.

Can I calculate from only MSRP and OTD?

You can run a limited screen, but the result will say the selling price and portions of the gap are unknown. More line items produce a more useful reconciliation.

Does a high score mean the deal is safe?

No. It means the entered figures did not produce a large quantified burden. Verify the written contract, vehicle condition, eligibility, lender disclosures and comparable offers before deciding.
